About us

When Heinz' children were young, they started to ride. In a beginning in a Poney club, later in a licensed riding club. It didn't take long, and Heinz was affected with the horse virus from his kids. And the first horse, an arab halfblood named Pancho was bought.

More horses were to follow. And then the first filly was bought, from Heinz employer Gerhard Welschof, a known breeder. This filly was named WEICA and she became a beautiful mare so the idea was born, not onlyride but to breed with her. And as we now know, Weica and Heinz' breeding became an instant success. Weica's first foal, Pour le Merite by Pilot, much expected by the family Österdiekhoff and the whole riding club of Ostenland (he came 4 weeks late and they had run a path to Weica's box to see if the foals had arrived) was shown at the foalshow and selected for the NRW foal auction - what a start for a breeder. So the story of breeding successes began....

But we had some really bad times too. In 1991, Weica's only filly, St.Pr.St. PIROSCHKA, who became elite mare in Warendorf when she was three, died from a colic two years later while having her second foal, Gratianus by Grannus, already sold for an incredible sum at that time. At the death of his mother, he was just 6 weeks so we raised him with the bottle and later a buckert full of milk substitute (he had to be fed every two hours day and night, so only Claudia, student at that time, could do it and he accepted her  as his step mum).  And the misery continued. Sadly, Weica followed her daughter with dying on collic a year later while having Landberg by Landadel, her last of six foals, who all were successful showjumpers. As Piroschka was Weica's only daughter, we could'nt continue with the successfull Pilot- Weinberg-Adlerorden-Radetzky line. Piroschkas only daughter Qualisca by Quidam de Revel was bred and sold for our friend Margo van den Hoogen in Holland. So we had no horse of this line anymore.

had wonderful moments, like PRO PILOT I by Weica beeing licensed as stallion, or PUSCHKIN (later Pro Pilot II), his right brother, being licensed too and then winning the German Championship for 5 year old showjumpers in 1996. What a proud moment, when winner and even the breeder were presented to the crowd. Landadel, our 2nd bottle baby, winning many Young horses showjumping competitions, or Gratianus by Grannus out of Piroschka and sold to Holland becoming an licensed stallion in Belgium. Later Qualisca, his sister, made us proud by competing interanationally with John Whitackers son Robert.

But concerning breeding we had somehow to start over again. And many years later it showed  that PANDURA by Pilot, bought originally for Peter as  a showjumping horse (she competetd very successfully until an injury which stopped competing) became Weica's successor in founding a successfull showjumping breeding line.  Pandura established a new breeding line with her two daughters sired by Contender at a time, when Contender was still standing in Oldenburg and not limited to Holsteiner mares only. The two Contender-daughters CONTIDA and CONTESSA we kept, as we had learned from the past how quick a line can diminish.

We had many other successfull mares too, like PENELOPE by Pilot, who didn't compete herself as we expected due to her bloodline, but she was successful as a broodmare, producing e.g. Lorenzo 208, who gained international reputation with Christian Ahlmann, or Contiga by Contender, competing in advanced classes.

The mare ALETTA by Aletto out of our Ladykiller xx-daughter Lady Muck, who due to her showjumping talent was mostly used as a showjumper under Peter up to 1.35 m classes, brought very successful offspring like Proletto, who won the Bavarian Youngster coup, competed successfully at 1.40 and was recently sold to USA.

And sometimes another offspring from the Österdiekhoff stable turns out to be another star of the future.

Let's see what happens. Breeding can be well planned, but it still takes a lot of luck too - and horsemanship, which Heinz undenieable has.
